South Central Reclaimed Water break On 11/10/17 about 3:30pm a 12" Reclaimed water main off of Powerline Road (north of Viera Blvd) in Viera was hit by a trackhoe contractor working for Duda/Viera Corp. The plant supervisor was not notified until 11/13/17 at 7am and then it took time to determine if the water was from our reclaimed water line and not a potable water line. 2,494,142 gallons released to ground only. Crews are working to repair this week. Reclaimed water turned off in the area but some is still trickling out of the break. SWO was notified. DEP was notified by the plant supervisor. He left a voicemail for Reggie Phillips on 11/13/17. Update 11/15/17-repair completed at 7am. Installed cap on the line to stop future flows in that line. 3337 Northlake Blvd & MacArthur Blvd The point of backup was on Sun Terrace Ct in Lake Catherine, however the manhole located at the south entrance of 3337 Northlake Blvd located on MacArthur Blvd was overflowing. Wastewater Spill Coral Springs Wastewater spill at 9551 West Sample Road in Coral Springs. The spill was caused by a line having been broken while a contractor was excavating. The leak was repaired and the flow stopped utilizing a buried valve. The estimated volume discharged was 23,250 gallons, most of which was recovered using the vactor. The area was sanitized and cleaned with HTH. Lake county landfill lift station/recycling valve A valve keeping the leachate separated from the recycling center storm water system and a lift station became ineffective. Water was tested by conductivity test on 11/13/17, which indicates leachate based on the levels. Some of this water made it into the ground. IET came out to inspect system and is working on submitting a repair plan to the county. The leak has been isolated and in the process of being repaired. The leak started on Saturday, 11/11/17 at 1800. Most of the water went on the concrete pad and down the drain but 1,295 gallons went into the ground. Regulatory Agency notification was made on 11/13/17 via voicemail and email to Erica Peck with DEP at 9:42am and 12:45pm, respectively, Paula Noblitt with EPC at 9:48am, and the State Warning Point at 10:00am, case# 2017-9641. There is no immediate impact to residences or businesses. UPDATE 77,700 gallons of reclaimed water spilled from a line break On 11/13/17 at 7:00am contractors noticed water coming up from the concrete pad at RAS pad #1, which is under construction. The leak has been isolated and in the process of being repaired. All water remained on site. Based on SCADA trends the leak seemed to have started on Saturday, 11/11/17 at around 1800 at a rate of about 35gpm. Regulatory Agency notification was made on 11/13/17 via voicemail and email to Erica Peck with DEP at 9:42am and 12:45pm, respectively, Paula Noblitt with EPC at 9:48am, and the State Warning Point at 10:00am, case# 2017-9641. Amount reported was 1,295 gallons. Regulatory Agency notification was made on 11/14/17 to make a correction on the amount spilled, which was 77,700 gallons. RCW Release-Burning Tree Drive & Circle 11/12/17 14:30 PM Pinellas County Utilities was notified at 14:52 pm on 11/12/17 of a leak in the road. A 4" Reclaimed Water (RCW) pipe broke from the juncture of a valve at the intersection of Burning Tree Drive and Burning Tree Circle, Seminole, FL on 11/12/17. An estimation of 200,000 gallons of RCW were released from 2:30 PM to 4 PM to a golf course pond on 11/12/17. The immediate corrective action was closure of a valve on the 16" pipe prior to the area of the break. Repairs are being completed today. City of Largo - 8" Reclaimed Water Main Break On Saturday, November 11, 2017 City of Largo Reclaimed Water (RCW) staff responded to report of water flowing from a hole in the ground that was determined by Pinellas County water crews to be reclaimed water. Upon arrival, Largo staff found water flowing from a hole in the ground into a neighboring retention pond. A portion of the sidewalk had caved in. Staff shut off the valve to stop the leak.
