SWRF 09:50, 09-23-20, Sodium Hypochlorite At 9:50 a leak of Sodium Hypochlorite was discovered on the feed line to the North Plant CCC. The pumps were stopped immediately and the discharge area was exposed to repair the line. The leak is estimated to be around 30 gallons of Sodium Hypochlorite. The discharge was contained. The National Response Center and State Watch Office were notified immediately after discovery. Orange County Risk Management was also notified and they mobilized a remediation crew with Environmental Consulting & Technology to the site. The impacted area is within facility boundaries and no storm water systems were affected. The approximate gallons released and recovered are estimated to be as follows: 30 gallons released, 30 gallons will be recovered, 0 gallons unrecovered, and 0 gallons discharged to surface water.
