Chris Shelton A contractor hit a force main and caused a sewage spill. The name of the company is Suarez Underground Communications. Tarpon Springs Diesel Spill On the 22nd of September 2020, at approximately 1:30 PM a tank wagon hose burst during a fuel delivery and released approximately 150 gallons of dyed diesel to the road. The incident occurred on Marina Drive in Tarpon Springs, Florida. A professional clean up crew was contracted to clean the spill and they vacuumed and cleaned the impacted storm drains. Pinellas Fire Department arrived on-scene and remained throughout the initial clean up phase. SSO ENCLAVE ON EAST APARTMENT COMPLEX Enclave on East Apartments reported an overflowing manhole on 9/22/20. Environmental Services Department responded and discovered 2 overflowing manholes from this Privately Owned Collection and Transmission System (POCTS). A vactor truck arrived and jetted the line. This cleared the blockage and stopped the overflow. Approximately 3000 gallons reached a ditch that flows into an unnamed stream. Transmission Main Leak North of Kirkman Road West of Turnpik Incident Name: Water Conserv II Transmission Main Leak Incident Number: 092220-01 SWP Incident Number: 2020 - 5230 Incident Report: On September 22nd staff at the Water Conserv II Distribution Center observed a disconnect in the delivered flow and observed flow related to the facility. Upon investigation staff discovered a leak on the Transmission Main located on the Florida Turnpike ~ 200 feet north of Kirkman Rd. on the west side of the Turnpike. Staff contacted the City of Orlando and Orange County facilities to cease effluent pumping into the Transmission Main. Staff was able to isolate the Transmission Main with an isolation valve located north of Conroy Rd. and halt the release. The section of the Transmission Main currently out of service does not impact the City of Orlando's use of the Transmission Main, only Orange County's SWRF has been impacted by outage. A contractor has been retained and is currently mobilizing the necessary equipment and materials to execute the repairs, preparations include the required emergency locates and appropriate MOT. Reclaimed Water Spill 3307 Thomasson Dr. Naples, FL Approximately 24,500 gallons of highly treated effluent water was released at 3307 Thomasson Dr. due to a contractor puncturing the line while installing new storm drains in the area. New Riverhills Pkwy On 9/21/20 at 3:26pm a citizen reported a water break at the intersection of New Riverhills Pkwy and Turkey Oak Drive, Valrico. A technician responded to the site and an investigation found a broken sewer force main. A crew was dispatched for repairs with a pump truck to maintain the pump stations. Force main valves were located to stop the flow, allowing repairs to be made at 6:15pm. The overflow, estimated at 33,600 gallons entered three retention ponds located at this intersection. Aerators were placed and a fire hydrant was opened to assist in diluting the ponds. Regulatory Agency notification was made to the State Warning Point via phone at 5:38pm, DEP and EPC via voicemail at 5:29pm.
