South County Regional ┐ 520 TECO Road Ruskin, FL 33570 SCR WWTP has been in reject due to low UVT at the disinfection contact chamber. There was a discrepancy between the level transmitter and the manual tank gauge at the reject tank being filled and the tank over flowed. The total volume spilled was approximately 1,000 gallons of the partially treated wastewater effluent and it flowed to an on-site neighboring storm water conveyance. The Plant Operator isolated flow to the reject tank being filled and stopped the overflow, then another reject tank was placed on line to alleviated the situation. 50901 Hwy 27, Davenport On Saturday, June 15, 2019, a discharge of approximately 33,750 gallons of raw wastewater was observed at the Northeast Regional Park, 50901 US HWY 27, in Davenport, by a Polk County Sheriff deputy whom resides on the property. Mr. Brian Turner detected a strong odor and conducted a visual inspection. The odor was determined to be coming from a break in a three-inch force main approximately 400 feet south west of a private lift station. (Polk County Facilities Division Lift Station No. #1). (This private lift station and three-inch force main are not owned by Polk County Utilities). At this time, the cause of the break is unknown. Polk County Utilities was notified at 6:54 pm and onsite at 7:30 pm on June 15th. The spill ceased at 9:30 pm and was contained by an existing berm on the property. No water bodies were impacted by this spill. The closest area noted is a dry retention pond that was not affected. None was recovered. Due to the heavily saturated ground and limited light at the time of incident, completion of the repair measures had to be postponed. SR 54 and US 41 Verified cause of spill. Contacted and assembled necessary personnel and equipment needed to accomplish shut down of the transmission main that the failed ARV is on. Shut down all pump stations that we were unable to isolate by valves and close the available isolation valves ceasing the spill. Used our Vactor truck to retrieve wastewater from in ground ARV M/H and closed the isolation ball valve and removed failed ARV. Road way leading to the storm drain basin was washed down and cleaned, and retrieved 26,400 Gallons of Wastewater / Storm water from the receiving retention ponds located on the Eastside of SR 41 at the outfall of the storm drain. Sludge overflow at Marathon Area 5 WWTP Marathon Service Area 5 WWTP located at 506 106th St. Marathon Florida 33050: Approximately 850 gallons of waste sludge was spilled over the side of the digester tank this morning at approx. 0500. All of the sludge was sucked up with the vacuum truck. The area was disinfected with liquid chlorine bleach. The spill occurred when the utility company cut power then restored it which apparently reset the sludge pumping circuits. The pump ran all night and cause the overflow until the operator came in this morning and found it. The tank has a high level alarm but it apparently was damaged or disabled during the current construction project. Cool Breeze Drive, Reclaim Main, 06-13-19 The discharge of reclaimed water was caused by a contractor performing trenching operations near the east right-of-way of Tradeshow Boulevard. The contractor┐s equipment bucket made contact with the eighteen inch ductile iron reclaimed water main which caused a six inch split/crack to form and subsequently discharge reclaimed water on to adjacent unpaved land. No other surfaces, stormwater drains or water bodies have been impacted. Field Services staff have reduced the reclaimed water system flow in this area to stop the discharge from continuing to impact unpaved land. At this time the main is continuing to discharge at a low rate (100 GPM) into the original excavation pit where it is being maintained by a portable pump. The pump discharge flow is being sent into a nearby Orange County Utilities manhole. Approximately 15,000 gallons has been recovered from the excavation pit with the use of a tanker and the remaining volume is going to be recovered with the use of the portable pump. Final recovery volumes will be provided in follow-up reporting. Complete repair of the damaged main and recovery operations were delayed last night due to heavy rainfall. Field Services estimate the repair of the main to be completed by the contactor in the next 24 to 48 hours. The approximate gallons released and recovered are estimated to be as follows: 38,000 gallons released, 15,000 gallons recovered, 23,000 gallons unrecovered, and 0 gallons discharged to surface water. There is little or no potential risk to public health, safety or welfare. 6/14/18 - Update - The damaged reclaim water main has been repaired at approximately 10:30 AM on 6/14/18. A portable pump that was left onsite to maintain the excavation pit recovered a total of 117,000 gallons and that volume was returned to a nearby OCU manhole. No other surface impacts have occurred today. Jail FM Release At 1120 a sewer leak was reported near the Wakulla County Jail. It was soon isolated by valves on the system and repaired by 1400. The release was contained on site and cleaned with a vacuum truck and lime. Town of Davie - Sanitary Sewer Spill On 06/13/2019 at 13:30, the Town of Davie Utilities received a call on a sanitary sewer line spill at the SW corner of Griffin Rd and SW 58 Avenue (aka Wilson Rd). The Town of Davie staff responded and the line was repaired by 15:30. It is estimated that 1,200 gallons of sanitary sewage entered the canal system along SW 58 Avenue (aka Wilson Rd). City Manhole Overflow at Twig Terrace and 137th No surface water impact, therefore, no State Watch Office Incident Number. A City of Largo contractor (UTI) was performing sanitary sewer repairs and plugged the sewer line to restrict flow to the repair area. This plug caused a nearby manhole to overflow, as it was four feet shallower that others along the line. The manhole overflowed for approximately 20 minutes. When the contractor was advised of the issue, he pulled the plug and the line cleared. City crew arrived at the area and washed down the spill. There was no impact to surface water. Contractor was advised to have Vactor assistance at hand for any future work.
