Well Water Release On 6/28/2019 at approximately 01:00 it was noticed that the well water header pressure was low. During the investigation, it was discovered that the ground water well piping at the MWB-PW5 well cracked and released approximately 50,000 gallons to the ground. TWA Sandhill WRF In-Plant Lift Station On June 27, 2019, starting at approximately 9:00 AM, a partially treated wastewater spill occurred at the in-plant lift station at the Toho Sandhill WRF. The station has three 3 pumps that alternate based on flow and a spare on site, for a total of four pumps on site. Two pumps were in for repair, and two in the station. One of the two in the station failed, causing the spill. The operators immediately contacted the mechanics and the faulty pump was delivered for emergency repair. A bypass pump is being located to the site and will be in place by end of today. Operators are limiting flows to in-plant lift station to mitigate spills by turning of dewatering operation until malfunction is corrected. The State Watch Office was notified immediately and produced incident report #2019-3539. The spill is estimated to be approximately 10,000 gallons of partially treated wastewater, all of which flowed into the nearby storm drain, which is limited to on-site. No flows from storm drain to surface water are imminent. Toho will treat the area with lime regularly until such time as the in-plant lift station is back to normal operation. Toho will notify the Department once the bypass pump is placed at lift station, and will follow up once the station is back to normal operation. St. Lucie Village Eff Discharge During a visit to the wastewater treatment plant site earlier this morning @ 0700 hrs the operator found the effluent/combined flow holding basin discharging. There have been rains in the local area over the past few days (>3"). The rains are believed to have added water to the current levels of the wastewater treatment plants RIBs as well as have increased the hydraulics received at the wastewater treatment plant, subsequently increasing flows through the treatment plant. The discharge is intermittent but still ongoing at this time. The contents of the discharge is the blend from the WWTP chlorinated effluent and the water generated by the RO system at the WTP from reject and well flushing. The operator will begin collecting daily samples of the discharge for ecoli and conductivity. We will continue to monitor and provide updates as required. Wastewater Spill - Hillsboro Mile Wastewater spill due to a sewer lateral backing up during contractor activity. Contractor missed while tying in a lateral to a new gravity line. Approximately twenty five (25) gallons of wastewater was spilled. Wastewater seeped out of a clean out and into an enclosed area. 1315 Fouraker Rd A contractor drilling in the area and wanted to know how far down JEA sewer line ran. While attempting to lift the manhole cover, the cover flipped and hit the ARV inside the manhole causing it to break away from the force main and start releasing sewer. Lift stations and lines in the area were valved off for crews to complete work on the force main. Vacuum trucks were used to maintain control of release until the pipe could be repaired and a new ARV replaced. Sewer did enter the storm drain and released into Wills Branch Creek. Gasoline Spill on I-75 South bound lane near mile marker 177 Sampson Transport Truck Driver Rafael Olivas, hit a fender on I-75 which ruptured the truck's fuel tanks. This occurred just east of the Toledo Blade Blvd I-75 ramp to mile marker 177. While truck decelerated, approximately 70 gallons of gasoline was spilt mostly along the I-75 asphalt shoulder with small amount onto the side grass swale. Gasoline did not reach wet area of FDOT's adjacent linear swale pond. Most of the gasoline on the asphalt shoulder evaporated. North Port Fire Rescue, Public Works staff and responded to the spill. A gas dripping pan was put under the ruptured area of the tank. Also a small length of ditch/berm was excavated by North Port Fire Rescue in the grass shoulder near the stopped truck as a precautionary measure to prevent gas drippings from entering the adjacent linear swale pond on the south side of I-75. Cypress Chase abnormal event Incident happened on 6/26/19 at approximately 5:00 PM Across from 19391 Devonwood circle. (East) Staff isolated sewer force main around 6:00 PM on 6/26/19 and repairs were complete by 7:00 PM on 6/26/19. We estimate 18,000 gallons contained in a retention ditch built by the contractor that damaged the pipe. Recovered approximately 18,0000 gallons. North Fort Myers Wastewater System (Del Prado) There was a break on the 12" reuse line, approximately one mile west of Del Prado WWTF in North Fort Myers. Discovered on 6/26/2019 at 3:45 P.M. Estimated 1,000 gallons were released.
