Coolant spill at Fedex terminal in Pompano Beach, FL On 11/2/2017 at 1000 EST, Dwayne Jackson with Fedex Ground terminal 0333 called ERTS regarding a 10 gallon antifreeze release from a Ground Line Haul truck at the Fedex terminal parking lot located at 2700 Northwest 25th street in Pompano Beach, FL. The spill was the result of an apparent mechanical issue causing it to leak onto the asphalt parking lot and nearby storm drain. SWS was dispatched at 1045 with a 30 - 60 min ETA for inspection and cleanup ops.Once onsite they confirmed the drain impact; therefore, the NRC was notified at 1155 and PO Threatt issued report # 119-4982. FL state warning point was notified at 1200 and Henry issued report # 2017-9400. SWS personnel utilized a drum vacuum to recover all impacted water in the drain and checked all nearby drains. They confirmed the spill was contained to the initially impacted drain and no other drains or showed signs of contamination. All spilled coolant was recovered with absorbents and pads and containerized into drums for waste. SWS took the waste offsite for proper disposal. 11/03/2017 15:56 EDT Fedex Ground 2700 Northwest 25th street in Pompano Beach, FL ; Directions: Terminal parking lot. ; Pompano Beach FL; 33069 Broward Brett Johnson Project Manager bjohnson@ertsonline.com (440) 349-2700 Agent for Fedex Brett Johnson (440) 349-2700 bjohnson@ertsonline.com 26.181901 -80.155746 11/02/2017 10:45 EDT No 11/02/2017 10:50 EDT Incident Location
(NWRWRF) 11005 Dale Stitik Drive, Tampa 33626 On 11/2/17 at 12:00 PM, the NW Regional Expansion contractor was draining a 36 pipe for removal to replace it with a 54 pipe. Back pressure was detected at the pump because they did not know that two valves in the 36 pipe were closed. The contractor opened an air release valve on the 36 line to relieve the back pressure and raw sewage was discharged on the ground and entered an on-site storm water pond. The contractor stopped the pump and installed a pipe on the 36 line air release valve, which allowed flow to be directed into a nearby manhole. Of the 26,400 gallons discharged, 19,600 gallons was recovered in the nearby manhole and 6,000 gallons entered into the on-site storm water pond. Plant Operations staff collected a grab sample of the storm water pond water. The nutrient levels indicated no significant impact to the pond and no flow discharged from the pond. Improved communication procedures between the contractor and project management will be discussed at the next project meeting. There is no immediate impact to residences or businesses. Regulatory Agency notification was made to the EPC via telephone at 4:39 PM, DEP at 4:00 PM. The State Warning Point notified via telephone at 8:00 AM on 11/3/17. 11/03/2017 15:27 EDT Northwest Regional Wastewater Reclamation Facility FL0041670  FL Hillsborough JON JOHANSON PROJECT MANAGER II JOHANSONJ@HILLSBOROUGHCOUNTY.ORG (813) 209-3088 PROJECT MANAGER II RICHARD CUMMINGS (813) 209-3003 CUMMINGSR@HILLSBOROUGHCOUNTY.ORG 28.069295 -82.620158 11/02/2017 11:00 EDT No 11/02/2017 12:00 EDT Incident Location
