||At 9:15am today, DWU received a call from a Contractor that they had hit an 8¿ forcemain. The hit/break was located on the west side of 960 Hwy 98. DWU crews were dispatched to the area to assess the situation. Lift station crews and Florida Septic were called to isolate lift stations to the repair could be made. About 20 gallons of wastewater ran down the roadside curb to a stormwater inlet, but the inlet was pumped of the wastewater. Most of the wastewater was diverted to the onsite stormwater swales in the NE corner and rear of the building. No wastewater entered any surface water bodies. The pipe repair was completed about 2:20pm today and the forcemain was returned to service. All wastewater that was spilled has been cleaned up and the area limed. It was estimated that about 13,800 gallons of wastewater escaped the forcemain.

|SSC Wastewater Spill
8:35 AM ¿ Wastewater was spotted coming out of the ground on the west side of the Maintenance Shop by Maintenance personnel.
8:55 AM ¿ Wastewater pumps at the Screen and Grit feeding the leaking pipeline were shut off allowing wastewater to flow into secondary containment.
9:15 AM ¿ Four 350-gallon totes and a mud pump were brought to the leak. Excavation with shovels began to find source of leak.
9:45 AM ¿ Started pumping standing wastewater in excavation hole into totes with mud pump.
10:45 AM ¿ Wastewater inside tank at the Screen and Grit outside secondary containment breached perimeter of outlet pipe and started flowing out making it¿s away into the environment.
11:34 AM ¿ Source of leak exposed. There was a crack in a schedule 40 6¿ coupler connecting two pipes. Flow still has not stopped coming out of pipe. Two lift stations feeding Screen and Grit were turned off and all valves closed to stop flow.
1:38 PM ¿ Repair on pipe started once standing wastewater was pumped into to totes. Repair consisted of using two high pressure compression couplers and a piece of Schedule 80 pipe to connect the couplers.
2:34 PM ¿ Repair completed and pumps turned back on. No leak from repair and the flow from the wastewater tank ceased.
Estimated release to the environment:
4 hours of flow from tank at 25 GPM = 6,000 gallons released into the environment from tank.
Estimated 250 gallons spilled around source of leak.
Estimated Total Release: 6, 250 gallons
1,400 gallons were captured into totes.

|Supernate spill at Golden Gate WWTP
||While supernating the digester, the phase monitor in the plant lift station malfunctioned, preventing the lift station pumps from operating. An overflow of approximately 5,300 gallons of supernate occurred as a result. The lift station is back on-line. Vac trucks were dispatched to the site and recovered approximately 5,000 gallons from the on-site swales. The release was contained on-site at the WWTP. No stormwater drains or surface waters were impacted. Lime was applied to the affected areas.
