Reuse/reclaimed water discharge at 6832 Trail Blvd. Approximately 1200 gallons of treated effluent water was released at 6832 Trail Blvd. due to leak in force main. The line is still actively leak due to location of leak and customer demand. Pipe is leaking inside the casing under US41. L/S 17 Force Main Break State Permitted Construction work at the WWTP inadvertently caused a dead head situation of flow coming into the City of Bradenton Treatment Plant for a very short time starting at 0830 on 2-28-18; resulting in 24" Force Main leaving L/S #17 to crack. Approx. 3' in length. A line stop was required for repair and was not effected until 6:00pm. That allowed repair to begin, which concluded at 2:00 am 3-1-18. Tankers were hauling from L/S #17 to the WWTP until event ended. Vacuum Truck and lime application and cleanup has been completed. 9th Ave. West , Bradenton will be partially closed until road is restored. Approx. 250,000 gallons spilled to storm drain to the Manatee River. City of Sarasota 12th St. & East Ave City crews needed to work on a broken valve. Attempts were made to release the pressure in the line, but there was still partial pressure in the line when crews started working which caused approximately 3,000 gallons of reuse water to be released. PCU DS - 151 Under the direction from the City of Gulfport, a contractor was excavating a dry retention pond and hit an 8‐inch sewer force main. The wastewater release was contained in the excavated area and 10,000 gallons was tankered from the site. At no time did the overflow leave the excavation site and affect any surrounding water body. The line was isolated, and 15,000 gallons was tankered from the upstream pump station as a further precaution. All pumped wastewater was returned to the downstream sewer collection system. The repair was made to the affected pipe and the lift station was placed back in service. FDEP was contacted at 11:52 on 2‐28‐18 for guidance on SSO determination and the call return at 14:37. PCU was advised to report the event as an SSO. US Hwy 27, south of Dunson Rd, Davenport February 27, 2018 at 2:30 pm, a contractor hit a 45 degree bend in a 24 inch wastewater force main. Approximately 240,000 gallons of domestic wastewater were discharged. The majority of the spill flowed in a dry swale. A smaller portion entered a drainage pipe then flowed across US 27, then south and west and exited the pipe in a dry retention pond. The flow ceased at 11:45 pm, February 27, 2018. Approximately 36,000 gallons were recovered and disposed of in accordance with regulatory requirements. The affected areas were treated with lime disinfectant. Lee County Utilities Ft Myers Beach WWTP Sludge Discharge The operations staff was decanting water from digester #2. The decant valve was left open. When all three digesters were equalized sludge discharged via the decant line overflowing the drain structure. The afternoon shift operator discovered the situation shortly after it began and closed the decant valve. An estimated 300-400 gallons of digester sludge discharged onto the ground. Costco FCGT During excavation to install new grease trap serving food court, it was discovered that existing tank was structurally unsound and emptied contents into excavation area. This was discovered at around 10 am 2-26-18, leak was likely present before excavation began. Environmental company went to remove immediate spillage and contaminated soil. Costco is now using portable sinks to avoid continued discharge.
