2020-10-12 LRECD Clarifier No. 2 SSO An unplanned release of secondary effluent occurred at Loxahatchee River District's plant site when a contractor (CROM), acting on their own, assumed rainwater had accumulated in the effluent launder of clarifier No. 2, which was being worked on. They placed a sump pump in the clarifier effluent box and pumped approximately 1000-gallons of secondary effluent to an adjacent grassy swale. 411 Baltzell Ave, Port St. Joe The overflow was from a 4┐ wastewater clean-out pipe uncovered by the property owner to stop sewer water backing up in his building. The property address is 411 Baltzell Ave., Port St. Joe, FL 32456. Port St Joe WWTP was made aware of the overflow at 10:00am EST on Wednesday September 16, 2020. The owner reported the overflow was continuous and started on Tuesday September 15th at 3:40pm and ended September 16th sometime after 9:00am. The total SSO overflow volume was estimated at more than 8,100 gallons. Main Street and Orange Street Flooding in an underground electrical vault caused a transformer to malfunction causing oil to leak into the flood water and flow into the street. Around 10 gallons of oil were released into the storm water conveyance channel which lead to Hogan's Creek. Boom was deployed into the creek to trap oil, where it was then vacuumed off of the surface. 10112020_CSX 8044 Lube Oil Release On October 11 2020, an area of stained ballast/soil approximately 45 ft long, up to 7 ft from CSX 8044 due to a sump overflow . No surface water or groundwater was affected. Source removal of impacted material will be conducted on October 12, 2020 utilizing a vacuum truck and hand tools. Following completion of source removal, a Source Removal Report will be submitted to FDEP. The incident occurred on the Mosaic South Ft. Ocala Wetlands Recharge Park Cell #3 Subsidence 5/3/2020 On October 11, 2020, at 4:00 PM, a surface subsidence of 12' in diameter and 10' deep was discovered in Cell #3 at the City of Ocala Wetlands Groundwater Recharge Park. Upon discovery, flow to Cell #3 was stopped. An estimated 500,000 gallons of Public Access Reuse water to have flowed into the ground. No structures were impacted. There is no adverse impact to health or the environment. No State assistance is needed.
