On Top of the World WWTF - EQ Basin Operational Staff found a minor leak at the base of equalization basin located at the Wastewater Treatment Facility (FLA 012905) during the routine daily inspection. Staff made repairs with hydraulic cement stopping the leak; estimated loss is less than 100 gallons of raw wastewater which was contained onsite. WRF-3 Horse farm re-use spill On Sunday 7-26-20 @0910 a re-use spill occurred due to apparent pipe break, while irrigating a restricted area in the horse farm zone #3 about 18,000 gals. of treated reclaimed water was spilled.Pumps were shut down and no more water was spilled. EWRF Sodium Hypochlorite 14:50, 07-25-20 At 14:50 a white patch was discovered in the grass at the EWRF facility. The NRC was notified immediately. Operations also called Dispatch and requested two mechanics and a vacuum truck. The chemical pumps feeding the line were turned off at 15:00. The NRC was notified again. The affected area around the 1 inch discharge line was immediately exposed to ensure the correct sodium hypochlorite discharge line was isolated and that the leak was contained. The affected of soil was removed and Environmental Consulting & Technology, Inc. was contacted to complete any additional remedial activities that may be needed. The impacted area is within facility boundaries and no storm water systems were affected. The approximate gallons released and recovered are estimated to be as follows: 250 gallons released, 250 gallons recovered, 0 gallons unrecovered, and 0 gallons discharged to surface water. Initial spill estimated at around 100 gallons and has been revised to be closer to 400 gallons. Diesel fuel enter storm drain and discharged into Lake Martha. Fuel recovery efforts ongoing with 311 gallons recovered. Spill caused by valve failure which caused fuel to be expelled.
