Ben's Lake Marina - Generator |
While removing an onboard generator, weighing approximately 400 pounds, from a cabin cruiser (boat name TBD) the generator was accidently dropped into Ben¿s Lake marina when the cart/wagon that it was loaded into failed. Fluids from the generator had already been removed; however, residual diesel fuel and motor oil remained (likely less than one gallon in total). A sheen was visible. Marina staff were immediately notified, and absorbent boom was placed around the boat slip where the generator had sunk. The generator was lifted using a come-along winch attached to the prow of the marina¿s center console. The generator was lifted off the bottom with enough clearance to be transported to the dock where it was lifted from the water with a high-capacity marina forklift. Absorbent boom encircled the center console during transport. Approximately 600 feet of absorbent boom was placed in total. Absorbent boom and pads will remain in-place until remaining fuel has evaporated. |
