Camp Chowenwaw Park
Camp Chowenwaw Park is a 150-acre relatively pristine site in Clay County in the St. Johns watershed. Shoreline wetland communities provide habitat for many listed wading birds and shoreline aquatic vegetation provides foraging areas for the St. Johns River manatee population as well as ideal habitat for many fish species. Camping facilities include tent sites and cabins. There are plenty of picnic tables and grills for day use. To minimize impacts on natural resources and insure protection and conservation of plant and wildlife communities vehicle access is limited. Camping sites and cabins may be accessed by walking trails. The park is open from 8 a.m. until sunset everyday (call for holiday hours).
