
Oakland Nature Preserve
The Oakland Nature Preserve covers 128 acres of wetland and upland habitat stretching from the south shore of Lake Apopka to the West Orange Bicycle Trail. It is located 20 miles west of Orlando in the Town of Oakland.
Wildlife viewing is good along the upland nature trails or half-mile long boardwalk that winds through forested wetlands and ends at a pavilion overlooking Lake Apopka. Bird watching, outdoor photography, and nature study are popular activities at this Preserve which is dedicated to restoring and conserving the land while providing environmental education opportunities.
