Blue Run of Dunnellon

The 32.4-acre Blue Run of Dunnellon Park is located on the Rainbow River, which is historically known as 'Blue Run', and the acquisition will allow for a passive recreation park and improved public access to the river. The city will construct a paved trail to connect the park to the adjacent Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway, an Office of Greenways and Trails property. The park also will connect to the Withlacoochee State Canoe Trail, the Great Florida Birding Trail and the Withlacoochee State Trail via a pedestrian bridge across the Withlacoochee River. The proposed recreational amenities for the park include interpretive kiosks and signs to educate visitors about the wildlife and natural communities on the property, a picnic shelter, wildlife observation platform, canoe and kayak launch, and a launch for people to go tubing down the river.
