Phifer Flatwoods

Phifer Flatwoods is a former pine plantation located southeast of the City of Gainesville. It is adjacent to other public conservation and recreation lands, including the Gainesville to Hawthorne State Trail and the Lochloosa Wildlife Conservation Area. Portions of the property have been identified by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission as Strategic Habitat Conservation Areas for gopher tortoises. The proposed recreational amenities include a geo-caching course, tetherball court, wildlife observation platform, and nature trails.
