Moccasin Slough

Moccasin Slough is a 255-acre park located between U.S. Highway 17 and the St. Johns River in unincorporated Clay County off Raggedy Point Road on Fleming Island. It is one of the largest undeveloped tracts on the river between Jacksonville and Palatka with 3,000 feet of frontage on the river. The park is designed to preserve the majority of the site including floodplain swamp and floodplain marsh providing habitat for listed wading birds, including the white ibis and snowy egret. The public can access this pristine park along the Raggedy Point Road where visitors will find ample parking and bike racks, and recreational opportunities including an upland trail with exercise stations, resting benches along trails, a modular playground, and covered pavilion with picnic tables and BBQ grills.
